Michael Heintz May 31, 1945 – March 6, 2017 After a lengthy battle with Parkinson’s Disease, Mike died peacefully on the morning of March 6 at his home in Redington Shores, Florida. Mike was in born in Elkhart Indiana, on May 31, 1945 to Adam and Marie (Stoner) Heintz, both of whom preceded him in death. Following service in the United States Navy, he met Jude Xepoleas in San Francisco, and they were subsequently married in San Bruno, California on September 4, 1966. Jude passed away on February 19, 1999. On March 11, 2000, he married Sue Lyon, and they retired happily to Florida. Prior to his retirement, he was a member of the Elkhart City Fire Department where, among other roles, he served on the Scuba Team. Over the years, Mike became something of a self-taught chef, and enjoyed cooking and entertaining his friends and the friends of his children. Mike is survived by his wife, Sue, who faithfully and devotedly cared for him, especially in his final years amid the debilitating effects of the disease; his son, Monsignor Michael Heintz of Emmitsburg, Maryland; Kelli (Robert) Personette of Granger; and Todd (Katrine) Heintz of Pleasant Hill, California; and by his step-son, Lex (Lisa) Bauman of Largo, Florida; and by his grandchildren, Isabella, Chase, Bailey and Kelsey Personette; Michael and Audrey Heintz; Chelsey (Colby) Bouldin and Shelbey (Robert) Yates; and great-grandchildren, Zoe and Skyler Bouldin, and Bryson and Brinsleigh Yates. He is also survived by a brother, Steve (Laurie) Heintz, of Elkhart, Indiana. The family is grateful to the aides, nurses, and Hospice personnel who enabled Mike to spend his final days at his home, and to Sue Lyon Heintz, who valiantly and selflessly cared for him with great love. In accord with Mike’s wishes, a private family ceremony will be celebrated and interment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Osceola, Indiana.
