Melanie Sue Dinius, age 76, of Huntington, died at 4:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2018 at Markle Health and Rehabilitation.

Visitation will be from 3 – 7 p.m. Thursday, September 13, 2018 at Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2018 at Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, 0880 East 1100 North, Roanoke, Indiana, with Pastor Joel Yeager officiating. There will be one hour of visitation prior to the service. Burial will be in Old Lutheran Cemetery in Huntington County.

Preferred memorials are to Pleasant Chapel United Methodist Church, in care of Bailey-Love Mortuary, 35 West Park Drive, Huntington, Indiana, 46750.

Melanie was born on November 20, 1941 in Huntington, the daughter of Marjorie Fluke and Harry K. Walter. She graduated from Huntington High School in 1959 and married Carl Lee Dinius on January 23, 1960 in Huntington; he preceded her in death on May 5, 2000 after 40 years of marriage. Melanie was a homemaker and provided childcare out of her home for years before working for 3-D Department Store until its closing. She was active in her church, Pleasant Chapel United Methodist, and held several offices over the years. Melanie was a member of Chief LaFontaine Saddle Club in Huntington and enjoyed going on trail rides. Her love of antiques and collectibles led her to found “Dumplings Dabblings.” She loved cooking and hosting get-togethers with family and friends. She was known for her kindness, generosity of heart, and warmth.

Survivors include sons Randall J. (Hamish) Dinius of Huntington and Ryan L. Dinius of Shalom, Arkansas, a daughter, Tammy (Thomas) Thornburg of Huntington, three grandchildren, four great grandchildren, two step grandsons, and four step-great grandchildren. Her parents and husband precede her in death.
