Doris Drago of Boulder, CO (91), passed away peacefully at her home on September, 8, 2018.

Doris was born in Houston, TX, the only child of Thomas Franklin Williams and Bernice Marie (Thom) Williams.

She grew up in Victoria, TX and graduated from Patti Welder High School. She attended Rice University in Houston, TX then graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Texas State College for Women in Denton, TX.

Wanting to make her mark in the business world, she got her first job right out of college at Ernst & Ernst, a public accounting firm. She left that company to work for one of their clients, a photography studio, both as an accountant and as a model. She also worked as an accountant for Humble Oil Refining, precursor to Exxon Mobil today.

During the time Doris was working at Humble, she was sharing a studio apartment with her college roommate when Doris met the love of her life, Carl Drago, who lived in the apartment next door.

Doris and Carl were married on Friday the 13th of January, 1951. In 1955, they packed up the station wagon with their one-year-old daughter, Lee Ann, and the family dog and moved to Boulder, CO.

Doris continued to work at various accounting jobs while taking care of her family in Boulder. She always made time to pursue her passions (in no particular order): sunsets, Mexican food, Gene Kelly movies, Christmas light displays, all types of card games (especially bridge), fresh tomatoes, travel, the night sky, dogs, cats, and the Colorado mountains.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Lee Drago-Timm, son-in-law James Timm, countless friends and many, many bridge partners. She was unforgettable.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in her memory to Tru Community Care Hospice, 2594 Trailridge Drive East, Lafayette, CO 80026, or to your favorite charity.

A memorial service will be held at the Boulder Elks Lodge, 3975 28th Street, Boulder, CO 80301, on October, 4 2018 at 3:00 PM. All are invited to stay afterwards for refreshments and a toast to Doris. As she would state to anyone who asked her the secret to staying active and sharp for so long: “ A whiskey and water for happy hour every day.”
