William F. Kraeger, age 74 Valparaiso, formerly of Chicago, passed away September 22 2018.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl Amos Kraeger and Mary Hart Kraeger, brother John “Jack” Kraeger and sister Mary Alice Kraeger Costello. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Debra Chappell, and son Michael (Debbie) Kraeger and many loving nieces, nephews and cousins. Growing up on the south side of Chicago, Bill attended St. Laurence Grade School and St. Rita High School where he met friends he still has today. While proudly serving in the National Guard, he received an award for outstanding achievement from The Chicago Tribune.
A member of the Dolton-Riverdale Jaycees, he was twice recognized with the “Key Man” award, the highest honor that can be bestowed on a Jaycee member who has unselfishly given of their time and efforts and has shown tremendous leadership skills.Bill spent his career at Libby, McNeill & Libby where he made lifelong friends.Bill was a gentleman who loved golf, the Bears, and his family. He was a smart, witty, fun-loving guy who will be missed by all who knew him.
