Longtime Sugarloaf resident, Robert “Bob” L. Tyler, passed away peacefully on November 3, 2018 at The Peaks in Lafayette. Bob was born to John and Gertrude Tyler in Pueblo on February 1, 1936.  In the mid- 1940s John and Gertrude moved their family to Sugarloaf where Bob spent the remainder of his life until 2016 when health issues required him to move to town. Bob graduated from Nederland Jr/Sr High School along with 5 other classmates in 1954.  Bob then worked in a few of the mines around the Nederland area before enlisting in the Marine Corps with his brother, John, in 1958. Bob was stationed at Camp Pendleton in California then went overseas to Okinawa. Once Bob returned to Sugarloaf he married Kathy Ross on March 22, 1963.

Bob received his Machinist Apprenticeship in 1968 and went to work for Rocky Flats outside of Boulder. From there he worked for Storage Technology for several years, and then went on to the University of Colorado from where he retired when he turned sixty. After his retirement Bob did what he loved most, frequenting his favorite eateries in and around Boulder, especially for breakfast, visiting friends, traveling the country on many motorcycle and car trips, camping with his family and taking a trip of a lifetime when he drove to Alaska for almost two months. Bob loved animals especially his beloved cocker spaniels and all the wildlife that passed by his home.

Bob is survived by his two children, son Nathan Tyler and daughter Andrea (Max) Kirsch, brother Timothy Tyler, sister Debbie Panico, cousin Terry Crocker, brother in-law Kenny Ross and several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his wife Kathy, brother John and sister Barbara.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to The Boulder Humane Society or other animal rescue charities.
