    SHELBURN [mdash] Elmer Leon Parsons, 81, of Shelburn, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 5, 2018, at Union Hospital with his family by his side. He was born in Vigo County, on Sept. 21, 1937, to Clarence and Thelma (Williams) Parsons. Elmer was an Air Force veteran and a truck driver for Carie Brothers Trucking in Decker, Ind. He was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Norma Mae Hedden and Mary Lou Grindle. Born Sept 10, 1942, in Terre Haute, he was the oldest child of the late William Schalburg and Ruth Schalburg, he was a U.S. Air Force veteran. Bart was a steel building salesman and retired from United Structures of America. He has collected and enjoyed Thomas Kincaid pieces for years.     Alene Mae Schuman, of Lawrenceville, was born on December 23, 1932, in Lawrenceville, a daughter to Kleo and Helen Werner Knecht. She married William E. Schuman on October 20, 1951, at St. Peter's Catholic Church and together they raised eight children. Alene was a lifelong member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, where she was active in the Ladies Sodality, Senior Citizens, Funeral Choir, taught religion classes, and was an extraordinary minister. She also made a quilt for the church every year since age 11. Alene was a wonderful seamstress and quilter, cook and caterer, and loved to garden, play Scrabble and cards, and work puzzles.
