Janet E. Hunnicutt, 79, of Van Buren, Ind., passed away at 10:35 a.m. Friday, Feb. 8, 2019, at Heritage Pointe in Warren.
She was born Saturday, Nov. 4, 1939, in Huntington. Janet worked at Franklin Electric for more than 30 years, specializing in insurance and benefits. She was able to retire at the age of 59 and spent her time traveling over most of the U.S. and parts of Europe.
She was a loving caregiver to her twin granddaughters during their growing up. She was a member of the Van Buren United Methodist Church, where she was very active in several committees and was more than willing to help out with all church functions. She especially enjoyed helping with the monthly Joy Club dinners.
She was also a member of the Van Buren Happy Red Hatters, worked with Kids Hope, and donated snacks for Switch Up.
She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Janine Felver of Van Buren; a grandson, Charles (Nicole) Shideler of Van Buren; three granddaughters, Jennifer (Tyson) Ford of Markle and Holly Felver and Remi Felver, both of Marion; two great-grandchildren, Madeline Shideler and Jack Shideler; a brother, James (Evelyn) Thompson; and a sister-in-law, Donna Thompson.
She was preceded in death by her father, Sherwood Thompson; her mother, Edna (Cramer) Thompson; a son, James Clinton Hunnicutt; three brothers, Robert, Tommy, and Howard Thompson; a sister-in-law, Vivian Jean Thompson; and a special friend, Dallis Bunch.
Family and friends may gather to share and remember from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 12, and from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 13, at the Glancy-H. Brown and Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., in Warren.
A service to celebrate her life will be held at the funeral home at 11 a.m. Wednesday with Pastor Lucinda Osgood officiating. Interment will follow in the Mount Etna Cemetery in Huntington County.
Preferred memorials are to the Van Buren United Methodist Church, 105 S. 2nd St., Van Buren IN 46991, or to the donor’s local food pantry.
