Mary Ethel Dyer, 93, longtime resident of Terre Haute, Indiana, died in Denver, Colorado, on May 18, 2019. She was born to Reed and Molly Mullen on January 20, 1926, in Fort Smith, Arkansas. She was the eldest of seven children and is survived by Emma Scott, William Mullen and James Mullen, all of Fort Smith, Arkansas.
She was actively involved in Terre Haute civic organizations throughout her adult life, serving as a local and national officer in the Badoura Temple of the Daughters of the Nile as well as providing longtime service with the Terre Haute Woman’s Department Club.
Mary was a social being. Wherever she was she had friends and a bubble of happiness surrounded her. She had southern charm and grace and she will be missed.
She was married to Ora “Bob” Dyer, who preceded her in death in 1999. She has two sons, Dr. Robert, in Golden, Colorado, and Charles, in Conifer, Colorado. Along with the sons’ wives Nancy and Shelly, there are 10 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Following cremation there will be a celebration of life ceremony in Terre Haute, Indiana, scheduled this summer.
