Robert “Bob” D. Uhrich, 75, of Grass Creek, passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at his home, surrounded by his wife and children.
Born on April 3, 1944 in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania, he is the son of the late Leonard and Anna (Moore) Uhrich.
On April 3, 1969 at the Dague family home, he married Judith K. Dague, who survives. They celebrated 50 years of marriage in 2019 with a small family party at their home, lovingly called, their ‘paradise.’
Bob began teaching in 1968 at Southwood High School; however, spent most of his 43-and-a-half years teaching math and physics for Caston High School. He also loved coaching many sports teams at Caston.
He was an active member of the Metea Baptist Church for more than 50 years and the Grass Creek Lions Club for 29 years. As a member of the Lions Club, Bob received the Melvin Jones Fellow Award in 2019. One of many joys included driving his father-in-law Joe Dague’s Lions Club race car in many area parades always with a smile on his face. Bob was also part of the Fulton County Library Board for more than 30 years.
Bob loved sports of all kinds and could make a game out of any activity. From the classroom to church activities to all his time spent with his kids and grandkids, wherever he went, fun seemed to follow him. His smile and fun spirit will be forever missed.
Surviving along with his wife Judy, is a son, Tim (Juanna) Uhrich of Lucerne; two daughters, Tammy (Brent) Colvin of Fulton and Jonni (Justin) Miller of Rossville; two brothers, Larry (Rita) Uhrich of Grayson, Georgia and Richard (Nancy) Uhrich of Elkton, Florida; sister, Lois (John) Butler of Grand Rapids, Michigan; and nine grandchildren who lit up his life-Noah, Micah, Garett, Molly, Luke, Grace, Anna, Megan and Maggie.
A private family viewing and private funeral will be held on Thursday, March 26, at Gundrum Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Metea Cemetery.
A celebration of life may be planned at a later date.
Memorials may be made to the Grass Creek Lions Club or the Metea Baptist Church, designated to be used to enable more kids to attend Tippecanoe Baptist Camp.
“This life was a better place because we were loved by him.”
