    Bill was born in Marion on November 2, 1937. He was the oldest of thirteen children born to the late Alonzo and Gwenevere (Nall) Whelchel. He passed away in his home on February 3, 2019. Bill spent all of his life in Marion and during his working years he was employed with Dana Corporation until his retirement in 2001. He married Celia F. Risner on May 24, 1990. She passed away on July 9, 2018 in Owen Valley Health Campus, Spencer, Indiana. Maxine graduated from Marion High School. On June 14, 1946 she married Ralph Eugene Pierce.
